Find out if a 12mR really is double your fun? Sea Scope Yacht charters is delighted to make available two classic 12mRs for a relaxing day/afternoon out on the water. US11 Gleam and US14 Northern Light are open to charter on September 7th, the layday between the North American Cup and the World Cup. The fee is $125 per person with ten sailors required per boat to meet the minimum charter threshold. This is an event of our own design. If there is interest from more than 20 sailors, we can explore chartering other 12mR yachts.
While it is always difficult to tame one's competitive spirit, the point of the outing is to get to know and sail with everyone is in the 6mR family but in a different format. In order to initiate the process, the World Cup Organizing Committee would like to nominate Tim Street, President of ISMA, who is presently organising the British 12mR Fleet after a long history with the fleet to initiate the protocol for the event.
While more information is coming soon, please indicate your interest in joining this event by sending and e-mail: info@6metreworldcup.com

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of 12M Class Yachts in their Quest for The America's Cup
A yearlong calendar of racing and events will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the famous 12 Metre Class yachts participating in the America’s Cup. It all began in 1958 when the victorious Columbia (US16) defeated the British challenger, Sceptre (K17). For the 2009 World Championship, not only will Columbia compete again, but as many as 25 boats including boats from the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Borneo. Fierce competition will capture memories of times past, and attract sailing stars, fans, and media from the world over. Not since Newport hosted the America's Cup in 1983 have the waters and winds of Rhode Island Sound assembled such an impressive collection of 12 Metres.
Join us as we celebrate our "Golden Year" with regattas and events on-shore in Newport, Edgartown, Nantucket, and downtown New York City. There are opportunities to participate on every level. Whether you are a competitor, sponsor, volunteer, or spectactor, we look forward to seeing you.
