There is more to do outside of the World Cup:

The World Cup Planning Committee is delighted to inform you of several racing and social activities in addition to those covered by the official World Cup Entry fee.

The New England 6mR fleet cordially invites all vistors to join any of our Newport Harbor based racing this season. Please refer to the Calendar section of this website for more details.

September 5th and 6th: In particular, visitors are encouraged to join the North American Fleet for one of two pre World Cup regatta options on September 5th and 6th: (1) Enter the North American Cup (Anticipated 5 Windward/Leeward races) or (2) Enter the Museum of Yachting Classic Regatta using a the Classic Racing Formula (CRF)(One long race per day). Whichever option you choose, registration for both events is via the Museum of Yachting.

September 7th: Monday is presently scheduled as a layday between the North American Cup and the World Cup. There will be plenty to do. Monday evening will be an Opening Ceremony. Earlier in the day, the 6mR fleet has been offered the chance to charter two 12mRs, US11 Gleam and US14 Northern Light (or more if there is demand) for an event of our design. Should the North American sailors challenge the Europeans to a friendly match race? You decide! Ten participants per boat are required to confirm the charter so make your opinions known on the Events page as soon as possible. Lastly, there are rumors circulating that some of the legends of 6mR sailing are saving the 7th for a racing exhibition. More coming soon!
